Day 2 - Visit to Lila Secondary School, Presentations, Spanish Meal and Sand Dunes

Today we got up at 7 am to go to the local school at 9am,and we were quite tired!!The weather was hot and sunny,no rain!! We went on a coach and it was a 20 minute journey to Lila Secondary school, which means purple secondary schoolWhilst on the coach,we asked our German friend Myles if he would translate a german song for us called Fliegerlied. We were 3rd to do our presentation, and it went very well. The other presentations were very interesting, and we learned alot about the traditions of the different countries.I was intrigued by the Greek presentation, and they mentioned alot about goblins and evil spirits, which was very interesting. Also the Spanish did a very entertaining performance of traditional dance and music,to welcome us to the school and country. Then we went for lunch, and we had a fun time talking to the German,Portugese and Polish students about their countries, then we got into a long conversation explaining Glee to the Polish girls! Well,Emily did,Charlotte was just laughing! Then we went to the sand dunes, and the ones in St Annes are like ants compared to these!!The biggest one was about 50ft high!We ran down them really fast and its was fun.We have about a tonne of sand in our bags!We then went down smaller ones and just rolled down them, and got sand over.We then spent all our time on the coach singing whip my hair, whilst trying to get the sand out of our hair!We are now off for a swim in the pool! Bye!!

Today we met the Germans and went exploring with them.We went to the flea market, but there were only 2 shoe stalls and an antique stall,so we werent there for long. Then we had lunch at a restaurant and it was great. We are looking forward to meeting everyone from all the other countries!
Unfortunately it is still raining, but it is very hot.We have a view of the sea from our room, which is great. The sea is really blue and beautiful, and very clear. We saw people surfing and swimming in the rain!Although,it is very hot,so we dont blame them.

We arrived yesterday night at our hotel in Gran Canaria (we texted Mr.Wood to let him know that we were safe) . We had a meal in the hotels restaurant. Emily and Miss Earnshaw had pork with a fried apple and raspberry sauce and Charlotte and Miss Underwood had Calamari in sauce with rice. It was lovely! After we had eaten we went to see the pool on the top floor and then we went to our rooms and went to bed, We were tired from the journey. When we arrived it was rainy but it was 17 degrees ,while back in England it was -3 ! HAHA.

This morning when we woke up we were astounded by the amazing choice of food for breakfast. There was, cooked breakfast, fresh fruit, bread, croissants and much more! There were some traditional Spanish options for breakfast, like these churroes, which are pieces of fried bread. They dip them in their hot chocolate, like the french do with croissants. Charlotte was waiting for her toast to cook for about 10 minutes, before giving up and moaning that her toast wasnt cooked! The majority of the people at Breakfast spoke German,so its a good thing we are learning German at school! Then we went upstairs and prepared to meet all the people from the other countries. We met the Portugese teachers and students and the Spanish co-ordinator.They were all very nice.
