Comenius Day 6 and 7 Farewell visit to Lila School, Hungarian Concert, Sunbathing afternoon and final night

yesterday was our last full day (with everyone) in Gran Canaria, we began the day at lila school all the students did an ice-breaker activity followed by a presentations about volcanos produced by some of the spanish students. It was very interesting. We also learnt a spanish song. After our activities we had a music concert performed by the hungarian students and teachers. They dressed in traditional outfits and they played us some hungarian folk music, at the end of the concert they taught us all a little bit of a song and a simple dance to go with it, it was really fun.

Then we went outside and Charlotte,Emily,Miss Earnshaw and Miss Underwood played basketball/ netball against 4 spanish girls. We beat them 4-2!!! Then we came back to the hotel and went to the beach and sunbathed with all the people from the other countries. It was a fantastic day, with highs of about 27 degrees. Then we came back to the hotel and said goodbye to most of the students,as they were all leaving early in the morning. It was very sad,and we will miss them all.

Today we went shopping and we spent a little bit of time on the beach, whilst we were shopping we spotted these magnificant carnival masks me and emily tried them on.

After we finished shopping we went to the beach for a little bit the temperature reached a high of 31 !! But we took a photo at 29. This afternoon we said goodbye to our german friends and we went for some pizza down the road from the hotel, while we were waiting for the pizza we played uno !!
We have had an AMAZING time here and we have met some great friends. Thanks for following our blog we hope to add some videos soon so keep checking.

Day 5.

Back again, Last night we had a brilliant farewell party, it was the last day that all the group would be together. When we first got there it was more sophisticated that we expected but after the party had kicked off we were suprised at how good the party became, the Dj played some spanish songs that were fright-fully great to dance to. It was a great atmosphere. It was an ideal time to get all the group photos that we wanted. (above) is a picture of most of the co-ordinators and (below) is a picture of most of the students. Me and emily danced for most of the party, at one point the Dj gave out some sombreros they were huge. Everyone looked funny in them. After the main party we had to move downstairs so that we didn't wake anyone, the hungarins played some songs for us they were really good. Everyone got each others emails ETC.

Comenius Day 5 - Visit to the center of the Island and the mountains

Today we visited the center of the Island. We climbed high into the mountain region and went down some very windy roads by bus. We went on a 2 km hike to the point you see in the picture - it is called the roque nublo Mountain.

When we got to the top of the mountain,we thought it would be silly to get to the top and not touch the famous rock. The view from the top of the mountain was spectacular.

Last night we had a farewell party,as some of the students were leaving. We will write about it later, as we are in a rush and we need to go!! BYE

This is me and emily in a really nice restaraunt in the northern part of Gran Canaria called Agaete we had paella. Paella is a typical spanish dish made with rice, seafood and sometimes chicken.

This is typical spanish architecture.

Today was a fun day.First we visited the school again and made some crepes. They were very yummy! We all were talking to some of the spanish students, and they started talking about Justin Bieber, which was weird! But they didnt like him, which was ok!! Then we went to the museum La Cueva Pintada and learned about the history of Gran Canaria. Here is a picture of us sat in a room of what their houses would have been like. There was a big part of the museum which was the ruins of the original houses from 500bc.They showed us the painted cave, which has helped archaeologists find out more about the life of the villagers. Then we went for lunch at a fishing dock, and had some paella.Charlotte enjoyed it very much, but I wasnt too keen. They also gave us fish cooked whole, which looked horrible but was actually very nice. Then we had some time on the beach by the docks, and I took off my shoes and went in the water. We came back to the hotel, and are planning to have a relaxed night tonight.!!! night!!!

Day 3

Today was very exciting and fun. In the morning we watched the remaining presentations, as some countries arrived late. They were very interesting. After that we visited the Mayor in the town hall. Here is a picture of us and Miss Earnshaw sat in the meeting room. The Mayor was very pleased that we had all come to Gran Canaria and that we had made and effort to come and see him. We went downstairs and we watched some traditional dancing it was really nice to watch because it was completely different to how we dance at home !! Emily and Miss Earnshaw were asked to dance with them and they got asked to wear some traditional Spanish garments. We got a picture with one of the dancers.

We have been getting along really well with all the students, it is nice to talk to people with different cultures and backgrounds. Before we went on a tour of the old town we had some lunch at a local golf club, SUPRISINGLY Emily enjoyed some of the food (result). Today was Anna's birthday (a french student) everyone sang happy birthday to her in all the different languages. When we went on the tour we got split up into 2 groups and we got taken round by a tour guide (a student from the school). It was very interesting and picturesque, there we many beautiful old building with alot of history behind them. We went to Christopher Columbus's house, we had a picture of us touching it ! They made a small museum out of part of his house, there were many different artifacts that he had found on his travels around the world. I found out that he didn't realize he had discovered America, he thought he was in India ! Our tour was brilliant and we even had time to buy some souveniers which was a bonus ! we came back to our Hotel and had something to eat. After our meal all of the students went for a walk on the promenade, it was 17 degrees! when we went for a walk we sat down and about fifteen of us started singing it was really fun and we attracted some attention from the passers by !!
